CLEOPATRA'S BEAUTY SECRETS

The Legendary Queen of Egypt was known for her exquisite complexion. One of her secret beauty treatments, the milk and honey bath are still being used today.

One of the main ingredients, milk, contains lactic acid, which helps to exfoliate your skin. The lactic acid in milk is an alpha hydroxy acid, which helps to cleanse the deepest layers of the skin.

Honey has an abundance of health properties. First of all, it is composed of sugars like glucose and fructose so it is also a gentle alpha hydroxy acid. It's made up of both minerals and vitamins to help nourish and heal the skin. Since it also contains phytochemicals that kill viruses, bacteria, and fungus, it's has a natural anti-inflammatory effect which heals wounds quickly. This makes honey a good substitute for wound dressings.

Here are a couple of ways to enjoy these two main ingredients found in her ancient beauty secrets.

Cleopatra Honey & Milk Bath

Ingredients

1/2 Cup Powdered Milk 1/2 Cup Raw Honey 2 teaspoon Jojoba Oil (optional)

Mix ingredients in a large bowl and pour your warm bath. Soak for up to 20 minutes to infuse these beneficial ingredients in your skin. This recipe makes enough for one bath.

Milk & Honey Rinse for Wrinkled Skin

Ingredients

1 oz raw honey 1 Cup skim milk 2 teaspoons aloe vera gel

Combine Ingredients in a jar and shake well. Apply to your face morning and evening with a cotton ball. Store mixture in the refrigerator for up to 3 weeks.

Hundreds of years ago, Cleopatra discovered that milk and honey can help keep the skin youthful, soft and beautiful. Incorporating these two beauty recipes in your daily regime will help you to also experience healthy, vibrant, and ageless skin. Milk and honey is readily available at your local grocer and is an inexpensive way to improve your skin.

BEAUTY SECRETS

There is a lot of pressure these days to look young and desirable. We have become obsessed with losing weight and getting rid of wrinkles. Cosmetic surgery is beyond the means of a lot of people, so we search the glossy magazines for any beauty secrets that the experts can give us. Celebrities give their tips too, of course it's easier to stay gorgeous when you have an entourage containing a personal fitness trainer, make-up artist and hair stylist.

Millions of pounds are spent on face creams and products that promise to remove wrinkles. Men have become just as vain as women, moisturising, exfoliating and dying their hair. Is there anything we can do apart from Botox injections? Some beauty secrets have been handed down from the old Hollywood stars. Many an actress today plunges her face into a bowl of cold water and ice. If the shock doesn't kill you, it's supposed to invigorate and stimulate the skin. This might be too extreme for a daily regime but no pain, no gain.

It may be a cliché but the best advice on looking good is to live right. Smoking, partying, eating rich foods and alcohol all take their toll if not moderated.  The body can only take so much and the skin will start to show the visible results of an unhealthy lifestyle. Dry, creased skin and dark circles under the eyes will betray all. There is no great mystery to beauty secrets. There's nothing wrong with buying lotions and potions but it's only a temporary fix before it all catches up with you. Eating plenty fruit and vegetables, no smoking and drinking water or pure juice instead of caffeine is a good regime to follow. A sufficient amount of sleep is also beneficial. The body needs time to recuperate.

Some women won't take the garbage out until they are fully made up. The thought of facing the world without putting their face on sends them into blind terror. The fact is that cosmetics were not invented to preserve our youth. The less make up, the better. Of course, we women couldn't give it up entirely so it's important to cleanse, tone and moisturise every day. If you are buying products that claim to offer all the beauty secrets known to civilization, make sure the manufacturer has a good pedigree. If it retails at a ridiculously low price, the chances are that the ingredients are not as pure as you would wish.

Let the Face Shape Guide assist you in selecting a style that is perfect for you. Your facial shape is the starting point to choosing a style that flatters you. Here’s how to find out the shape of your face.

Let the Face Shape Guide assist you in selecting a style that is perfect for you. Your facial shape is the starting point to choosing a style that flatters you.

To find out the shape of your face, measure it with a tape measure - and write them down:

·         Measure your face across the top of your cheekbones.

·         Measure across jawline from the widest point to the widest point.

·         Measure across forehead to the widest point. Generally the widest point will be about halfway between your eyebrows and hairline.

·         Measure from the tip of your hairline to the bottom of chin.

OVAL – many choices

Slightly narrower at the jawline than at the temples, with a gently rounded hairline.

Try:        Most any hair shape works well. Short, medium and long lengths, plus styles swept away from face.

ROUND – add height without adding extra width

Full-looking face with round chin and hairline.

Try:        Chin-length or longer styles, cuts with fullness and height at the crown, layered top, off-center parts.

SQUARE - avoid styles that add width at the jawline

Angular jawline, same width as forehead

Try:        Styles that lengthen the face and add fullness on top work best. Avoid styles that add width at the jawline.

RECTANGULAR - avoid styles that add height on top

Long and slender, about the same width at forehead and just below cheekbones.

Try:        Short to medium lengths, fullness at the sides, soft wispy bangs.

HEART – add volume to chin

Wider at the temples and hairline, narrowing to a small chin.

Try:        Chin-length or longer styles, side parts, swept forward layers around the upper face, wispy bangs.

TRIANGLE – add volume above jawline

Narrow forehead, round chin

Try:     Frame the face with bangs and full layers on the sides and on top, with hair falling below the chin.
